She started snowboarding at the age of 4 under the influence of his father, and started slopestyle when she was in the first grade of elementary school. Steadily achieving good results in competitions in Japan, she qualified as a professional in Japan as a 4th grader. The following year, she won the World Rookie Finals, a world competition. In addition to the competition scene, her backside double cork 1080 became a worldwide sensation when she distributed his video.
In 2018, she won the Big Air event at the XGames in Norway with a backside double cork 1260, an unprecedented feat for a female skier, at the young age of 13.
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, she competed in two events and won a bronze medal in the big air event, breaking Figure Skater Mao Asada’s record as the youngest Japanese female medalist at the Winter Olympics.
In 2023, she will contribute to the development of women’s snowboarding by becoming the first woman in history to score a BS1440 in competition and win back-to-back World Cup titles. 26 years later, she will aim for the top spot at the Milano Olympics.
