Seeing his older brother pursuing his dreams at the Sochi Olympics in 2014, Kaishu Hirano chose at age 12 to become a snowboarder himself.

After winning a bronze medal at the action sports festival X-games for his competition debut in 2022, he also went on to make his Olympic debut at the Beijing Olympic Games.

His first recorded jump of approximately 7.4 meters was reported as “a historical jump ignoring the laws of gravity. The highest record in the world” (setting a new world record for halfpipe height).
